Our policy and safeguarding protocol during the COVID-19 pandemic
Our commitment and responsibility to our staff and customers have never been stronger as we all face the COVID-19 pandemic.
At Devon Duvets we are both manufacturers and retailers, with both strands of our business conducted in our workshops, here in Devon. By their very nature, our products are handcrafted, it means that we already exercise strict controls to keep our workshops clean and hygienic. However, we have taken a number of additional on-going precautions, in line with the current advice from the World Health Organisation, the government and health authorities.
At Devon Duvets we would like to assure you that all of our seamstresses and our other employees have been fully trained to maintain the highest possible hygiene standards and we are well equipped to maintain these standards throughout our business.
Your health, together with that of our associates and our team, comes before anything else and so, of course, we are keeping a watchful eye on how the situation unfolds in order to act quickly, again under the advice of the authorities.
Our Devon workshops remain open and our online store is operating as normal, and we are continuing to supply our partner retailers with stock. We will continue to use DPD for deliveries and they have assured us that they have a hygiene protocol established, including ‘safe place’ delivery options for any customers who may be self-isolating and an alternative ‘proof of delivery’ option for customers not wishing to sign a handheld device. We have given further details below.
DPD Local COVID-19 protocols for deliveries and collections:
DPD will issue updates weekly, or more frequently, if further announcements are made by HM Government. At present all parcel operation continue as normal. All DPD Local depots and hubs are working as normal and they have no closures affecting any of their sites.
Should a customer not wish to sign a handheld device at the point of delivery or collection, due to fears of transmission of the virus, DPD drivers can still make the delivery and will use the Deliver to Neighbour option available to them to capture an image of the property and a Proof of Delivery name. The driver can also sign the delivery screen and record this as a ‘Refused to Sign’ incident. This will allow DPD to accurately capture and record deliveries and provide a full track and trace reporting.
If drivers deliver to a location where it is known that someone has the virus or is self-isolating for other reasons, they will deliver the parcel to a safe place. If a safe place option is not permitted, then the parcel will be returned to the depot.
DPD has issued detailed communication to all their workforce to ensure they are fully briefed on the latest situation. They are all advised of the correct processes to follow, as advised by the authorities, in the event that they feel unwell.
Stay safe, stay healthy!
