About Us

Husband and wife team Dick and Pauline Beijen bought their flocks of sheep during the summer of 2008 as the first step into their idea of creating high quality, natural British wool duvets.
Initially the challenge was to develop a high quality, handcrafted wool duvet that draped and behaved as a duvet should and give an amazing sleep experience.

After more than a year of development work, the latter part of which was filmed by Channel 4 with Monty Don in his series 'My Dream Farm', Devon Duvets, was born.

The concept of handcrafting British wool duvets and wool pillows in England was largely unthought of at that time and we are delighted that there is now a re-discovery of British wool that helps to support British farms.

Devon Duvets’ high quality handcrafted wool duvets, wool mattresss toppers and wool pillows are now enjoyed by many people and Devon Duvets continues to grow with Dick and Pauline managing their family business together.   They are constantly looking to develop their business in a responisible and sustainable way with innovations that include the development of the unique patented folding pillow, developed for hygiene reasons, luxurious wool mattress toppers,  a children's collection called Little Lana and a new Devon Bamboo Collection.

All have added to the total Devon Duvets sleeping experience.

Our Devon Wool Collection, made from Certified 100% British Wool and 100% Cotton continue to be the most desired wool bedding within the UK with a national retail distribution through many quality stores.
Our Devon Bamboo Collection is a new venture using only responsibily sourced bamboo fibres to create a duvet that is both cooling and hypo-allergenic.

It has always been very important to us that only natural materials are used that are renewable, responsible and environmentally friendly, supporting farming communities and protecting the environment; helping to secure it for future generations.  This is a continuing aspect in all that we do.

We are constantly looking to improve upon our contribution to the environment, for example we now use only cotton that supports the Better Cotton Initiative for our Duvets and Pillows and our mattress topper fabric is woven by a mill that is certified for sustainable textile productiond by Oekotex.

We continue to support local businesses in all that we need and the growth of Devon Duvets has allowed us to employ a growing number of employees to keep up with demand and maintain a real English handcrafted natural product.

Our staff are proud of their craftsmanship and this is evident in each uniquely handcrafted product made by Devon Duvets that is authenticated by the seamstress who made the unique product.

We hope we prove that in England we can create and produce high quality products that are good for the environment and sought after by many.
