Why a duvet made from natural materials is better for your sleep

We spend around a third of our lives asleep, so it makes sense to ensure your bedding creates the best sleep envrionment for restful slumber. Duvets made from 100% natural materials can help achieve a better quality of sleep, due to their ability to temperature regulate. Natural fibres work with your body and the ambient temperature in your bedroom, to help keep your core body temperature balanced throughout the night, also helping you to stay cool in summer and warm in winter. The most efficient natural fibres are wool, alpaca and TENCEL™Lyocell as they are not only temperature regulating, but also especially effective at absorbing and wicking away moisture, which makes them dust mite resistant, therefore are hypoallergenic and hygienic.

Which duvet is right for you?

We are committed to crafting natural, sustainable and chemical-free products, made with materials that are ethically and responsibly sourced by us, and from those who we know share our values. All of our duvets are 100% British made, individually handcrafted in our own workshops in Devon, which means we have control over quality and can keep our carbon footprint as low as possible. We believe that this ethos and these values help us to ensure we are not only making products that are better for your sleep. but are also better for our planet.

British Wool

Our luxurious award-winning wool duvets are made with certified 100% British wool, gathered from local farmers. Washed without the use of chemicals, our wool stays as nature intended - better for you and the environment. Wool is naturally breathable, and temperature regulating, releasing heat if you need to cool down but also retaining heat if you need to warm up. Wool's mosture wicking properties helps with temperature regulation and also ensures a damp-free sleep envrionment, which makes it dust mite resistant. We offer a selection of weights: Lightweight, Medium Weight and Extra Warm Winter Weight.

British Alpaca

Alpaca fibres are slightly lighter and finer than sheep's wool fibres and so create a duvet that is slightly lighter than our wool duvets, in terms of physical weight as well as togs. We only use 100% British alpaca for our gorgeous Limited Edition alpaca duvets, and we only use natural white alpaca to avoid the need for bleaching. We do not wash our alpaca using chemicals. Alpaca has excellent thermoregulating properties and is also moisture wicking, making it dust mite resistant. Each alpaca duvet is individually handcrafted by our seamstresses and we offer two weights: Lightweight and Medium Weight.

Botanic

The Botanic range is our 100% plant-based option. The Botanic filling comprises TENCEL™ Lyocell, which is made using an eco award-winning process to create fibres derived from sustainably managed wood sources. TENCEL™Lyocell is known for its silky softness, outstanding moisture control, and breathability. It’s hypoallergenic and naturally antibacterial, and is a great choice for those who are looking for natural duvet that's an alternative to wool or alpaca. As with all our duvets, our Botanic duvets are individually handcrafted by our own seamstresses and we offer a choice of weights: Ultralight, Lightweight and Medium Weight.

You can find out more details about the different weights and togs for our duvets here.
