The Natural Bedding Guide
How to Care for Your Botanic Duvet
Keeping your plant-based duvet fresh, comfortable and naturally cared for
Your Devon Duvets Botanic duvet has been individually handcrafted in our Devon workshop, using a 100% plant-based filling made with TENCEL™ Lyocell fibres.
These fibres are made from sustainable FSC wood sources using an award-winning process, creating a soft, breathable filling that offers a natural alternative to wool, synthetic or feather and down.
Like all good bedding, your Botanic duvet will benefit from regular care. Looking after it properly will help keep it fresh, comfortable and beautifully suited to restful sleep.
Air your duvet regularly
The simplest way to care for your Botanic duvet is to air it regularly.
TENCEL™ Lyocell is naturally moisture-wicking, which helps create a fresher sleep environment. Regular airing allows your duvet to breathe and helps keep it feeling light and comfortable.
We recommend airing your duvet whenever you change your bed linen, or at least every few weeks.
On a dry day, you can hang your duvet outside for a while, avoiding prolonged direct strong sunlight. If the weather is damp or unsuitable, place it over a clothes airer, the top of a bedroom door, or the back of a chair near an open window, so that air can circulate around it.
Always make sure your duvet is completely dry before putting it back on the bed or storing it away.
Protect it with a duvet cover
Using a removable duvet cover will help protect your Botanic duvet from everyday marks, moisture and wear.
Wash your duvet cover regularly and allow the duvet itself to air while the cover is being laundered. This simple habit can help keep your bedding feeling fresher for longer and reduce the need to wash the duvet itself.
Washing your Botanic duvet
Your Botanic duvet does not need frequent washing, but if it does need to be cleaned, please follow the care instructions carefully.
Use a large-capacity washing machine so the duvet has enough room to move freely. If the machine is too small, the duvet may not wash or rinse properly.
Wash on a gentle delicates cycle at 30°C, using a mild, non-biological or delicates detergent.
Use a gentle spin to remove excess water and remove the duvet from the machine as soon as the cycle has finished. Do not leave it sitting damp in the drum.
After washing, gently reshape your duvet before drying.
Drying your Botanic duvet
Your Botanic duvet should be dried thoroughly before use.
Air drying is the gentlest option. You can dry it outside on a line in suitable weather, or indoors over a clothes airer in a warm, well-ventilated space.
Your Botanic duvet can also be tumble dried on a low setting, if the care label allows and your machine has enough room for the duvet to move freely.
Do not use a high heat setting and always make sure the duvet is fully dry before placing it back on the bed or storing it.
What to avoid
To help keep your Botanic duvet at its best:
- Do not dry clean.
- Do not use harsh detergents.
- Do not use bleach.
- Do not use high heat when drying.
- Do not store the duvet while damp.
- Do not leave it in a damp environment.
Natural bedding should always be stored clean, dry and in a breathable place.
Storing your Botanic duvet
If you are storing your Botanic duvet away for a season, make sure it is completely clean and dry first.
Store it in a breathable cotton storage bag, rather than sealing it in plastic for long periods. Keep it somewhere dry, away from damp, condensation or strong odours.
When you bring it back out, give it a good shake and air it before putting it back on the bed.
Natural care for natural comfort
Your Botanic duvet has been made to offer soft, breathable comfort using plant-based fibres and a premium percale cotton.
With regular airing, careful washing when needed, and proper drying and storage, it can remain fresh, comfortable and ready to help you sleep naturally.
