Now that your beloved furry best friend has their very own Devon Duvets pet bed to snuggle into, you'll need some pointers with regards to caring for the product. Our luxury wool fleece pet beds are individually handcrafted with love and using beautiful 100% British fleece and filled with handfluffed British wool.
Wool is a wonderful fibre that’s naturally hypo allergenic and hygienic as it is resistant to dust mites and the build-up of micro bacteria. So you will only need to wash the pet bed if it becomes very dirty. Otherwise keep the pet bed fresh with regular airing - either outside when the weather is dry (this is best) or over a clothes airer near an open window. Make sure that fresh air can get right round the pet bed.
If there is a need to wash the pet bed, then here are our top Do’s and Don’ts:
Firstly remove the wool filling, using the zip provided on the casing - and air the wool separately.
DO turn the casing inside out and machine wash using a 30 degrees wool cycle.
DO make sure you use a washing liquid that is specially designed for wool (such as Woolite or similar).
DO use a gentle spin dry to remove any excess water.
DO remove the fleece casing from the machine immediately the programme has finished – don’t let it sit in the machine.
DO gently reshape and air dry thoroughly.
DO turn the fleece round to the right side when it's completely dry and you can very gently use a soft brush to refluff the fleece casing if needed - then refill with the wool filling.
DON’T dry clean – our pet beds are 100% natural so why would you add chemicals that could leave a chemical residue on your pet's sleeping environment?
DON’T use any other type of detergent, except for one created specifically for wool.
DON’T tumble dry – this will shrink (‘felt’) the wool, and this is not reversible.
