2026 Bedroom and Design Trends for Better Sleep

Bedroom trends are moving towards creating a sanctuary for rest and comfort, rather than a focus on purely aesthetic choices. We’ve identified a few pointers to help you create the perfect bedroom for blissful sleep.

The best colour palette for a restful bedroom

Warmer, softer neutrals such as soft taupe, cream and warm ‘greige’ and nature-inspired colours such as sage green and dusky blue, help to promote calm. Brighter colours, such as red or vibrant orange create ‘visual’ noise and are physically and mentally stimulating colours. Very dark colours, such as black, absorb light and make spaces feel small, cave-like or even oppressive, potentially hindering relaxation and morning energy. If black is your preference, then opt for deep charcoal and balance it with lighting and mirrors to reflect light. Incorporate some lighter colours and textures (such as velvet) to break up the darkness. Read our blog on bedroom colours for more information.

Choose natural materials for your bedding

Bedding and bedlinen made with 100% natural fibres is breathable, which helps to regulate body temperature and improve comfort. Opt for 100% cotton bedlinen, rather than polycotton blends that contain non-breathable synthetic fibres. Soft filled bedding made with natural wool offers breathability, temperature regulation, moisture wicking and a resistance to dust mites. At Devon Duvets we have been pioneers in natural, sustainable and chemical-free wool bedding for nearly two decades. Our award-winning natural 100% British wool range offers luxurious duvets, pillows and mattress toppers, individually handcrafted by our experienced seamstresses, in our workshops here in Devon. Each product is designed and crafted to help you to achieve a better, more restful sleep.

Sensory styling to help you prepare for sleep

Use warm, softer lighting, comfortable textures and subtle grounding scents to help your body recognise when it’s time to get ready for sleep. Set time aside for a pre-bedtime ritual; turn off the TV, put away the devices, spritz the room with natural essential oils and relax with a good book. For a natural sensory bedtime that takes you one step further into rest, explore The Sleep SpiralÔ – a unique story-woven sleep experience that combines selected gorgeous wool filled Devon Duvets bedding products, with some very special extras to help you unwind into sleep. New sleep ‘tech’ and innovation

Wake-up lights mimic a natural sunrise to help you wake up gently and feel more refreshed. Loud alarms can jar you awake and can lead to you feeling groggy for some time after you wake up. Wake-up lights can be especially beneficial during the dark winter mornings. Other sleep tech includes adjustable bed frames, offering customised comfort levels to support different sleeping postures and preferences.
