Why Little Lana is the Luxurious Choice for Your Child

At Devon Duvets we’ve been making award-winning, individually handcrafted wool filled bedding for over 17 years, and for thousands of happy customers. Based at our Devon workshops, our experienced seamstresses create luxurious duvets, toppers and pillows, using 100% British wool that’s natural, sustainable and chemical-free.
Offering standard UK sizes in Single to Emperor and a selection of sizes for EU sized beds, we’re also proud of our popular children’s range for children - Little Lana.
So how does our natural wool bedding benefit your child?

Natural, Sustainable and Chemical-Free
We want our products to be as natural as possible and that’s why we only ever use natural, sustainable materials.
- Only carefully selected high grades of beautiful British wool are good enough for our duvets, toppers and pillows and we gather this from farmers we know across Devon and the Southwest.
- Our wool is washed in British mills and without chemicals – better for your little one and the planet.
- We encase our wool in 260 thread count 100% cotton and never use synthetic liners, glues or bonding agents. So, your child will be tucked up in soft bedding that is as natural as nature intended.
Breathable and Temperature Regulating
- Wool is a wonderful fibre as it is breathable and therefore temperature regulating.
- Unlike synthetic fibres, which are not breathable and can trap heat, wool works with the ambient temperature in your bedroom, to either retain heat, or release it, as required. This helps to maintain a more balanced core body temperature and thereby lessen the chances of waking up throughout the night, feeling too hot or too cold.
- Because toddlers and young children (up to about the age of 8) can have very sudden temperature spikes, our duvets and toppers in the Little Lana range have slightly less wool inside to help manage these.

Dust Mite Resistant and Hygienic
- Wool is naturally resistant to dust mites and to micro bacteria, so wool bedding is ideal for children experiencing reactions to dust mite allergens.
- It also means that wool is a more hygienic filing than most others.
- This natural resistance, for example, means the Little Lana duvet does not need regular washing and we recommend regular airing to keep the wool nice and fresh. This can be done outside if the weather is dry, otherwise draped over a clothes airer near an open window.

Cosy and Comforting
We spent months of research in testing what kind of stitching works best to create the most comfort for your child.
- For our Little Lana duvet and Junior topper, the wool is stitched into the casing so that it does not move around inside and leave ‘cold’ spots where there is no filling. You also don’t need to shake the duvet each morning.
- Our special stitching also means that our duvets have a wonderful drape that feels comforting and cosy.
- Our Little Lana Junior mattress topper has just the right amount of wool inside a gorgeously soft 100% brushed cotton casing, adding a luxurious layer of comfort.
- We have two choices of pillow in our Little Lana range – our Junior Original Wool Pillow (which is adjustable by removing some of the wool through the zipped casing) and our Junior 2-Fold pillow which can be unfolded for airing. Both are smaller than an adult pillow – perfect for little heads to rest on.

Individually Handcrafted and Luxurious
- Each Little Lana item is individually handcrafted by our seamstresses, to ensure a product that’s been made, with love, for your little one.
- Every detail, from cutting the fabric and the wool layers to fluffing the wool for our pillows, and from stitching, binding and sewing in the labels to the finishing touches are all done by experienced hands and eyes that know exactly how the finished product should look and feel.
- Our seamstresses’ experience ensures the right kind of drape for a duvet, the most comforting plumpness for a topper and the correct amount of wool for a pillow.

Quality Materials that are Ethical and Responsible
We are committed to responsible sourcing and that means using materials obtained from those who share our values.
- The farmers who supply us with our wool love their flocks and adhere to the highest standards of animal welfare. Our wool is shorn in the traditional way, from live sheep, in the Spring and Summer, to relieve them of their heavy Winter fleeces. Their wool then regrows in time to keep them warm for the next Winter. Our wool is certified as fully traceable by British Wool.
- The cotton fabric we use is woven to our exacting specifications and is made from cotton fibres that have been certified by Better Cotton. This global initiative supports more environmentally friendly cotton farming practices and promotes better socio-economic conditions in cotton communities.
- Our products are 100% British made, in our own energy-efficient workshops, which means our products have a lower carbon footprint than those made, or partially made, overseas and shipped in.
