Pure British Alpaca Duvet – Lightweight 200gsm

Discover the airy softness of alpaca with this Limited Edition Lightweight Alpaca Duvet, handcrafted in Devon. Filled with 100% British alpaca wool and encased in 260 thread count natural cotton, this 200gsm duvet is breathable, chemical-free and naturally comfortable. It’s the perfect choice for hot sleepers or for use during the warmer months.

Each duvet is made by needling alpaca fibres into lofty sheets before stitching them into our bespoke cotton casing. The result is a lightweight, naturally temperature-regulating duvet that drapes beautifully and keeps you cool while retaining gentle cosiness.

Why Choose Alpaca?

Alpaca fibres are prized for their softness and superior insulating properties. They adapt to your body temperature – keeping you cool in summer and gently insulating when the nights turn cooler. Frequently Asked Questions

Why choose an alpaca duvet?

Alpaca fleece is known for its silky softness and light feel. It offers excellent breathability and gentle insulation, making it especially popular with those who prefer a lighter duvet or who feel warm at night. Like our wool duvets, alpaca duvets are handcrafted in Devon and made with 100% natural, sustainable fibres.

Is the Lightweight Alpaca Duvet suitable all year round?

At 200gsm, this duvet has an approximate tog of 3–6, which makes it ideal for summer months or for warm sleepers all year round. If you would like something cosier, take a look at our Medium Weight Alpaca Duvet, which provides more warmth for spring, autumn and milder winters.

Is alpaca wool sustainable?

Yes. All our alpaca wool is 100% British, responsibly shorn during the warmer months to keep the animals comfortable. It is endorsed by the British Alpaca Society, fully traceable, and cleaned without bleaches or chemicals. The cotton casing supports the Better Cotton Initiative, and every part of this duvet is natural, reusable or biodegradable.

Who is this duvet best suited for?

This lightweight alpaca duvet is perfect for those who prefer a cooler sleeping environment, people living in well-insulated homes, or anyone looking for a natural summer duvet. It’s also a wonderful option for hot sleepers, thanks to its breathable and moisture-wicking properties.

How do I care for my alpaca duvet?

Simply air your duvet regularly to keep it fresh. For a deeper clean, hand wash or use a wool cycle at 30ºC with a wool-safe detergent. Run a gentle spin, reshape while damp and air dry naturally. Do not tumble dry, bleach or dry clean.

Is this duvet hypoallergenic?

Yes. Alpaca fibres naturally resist dust mites and bacteria, making this duvet a good choice for those with allergies, asthma or sensitive skin. With no chemicals or synthetic fibres used, it offers a pure and gentle sleeping experience.

Please note that the care instructions vary, depending on your duvet type. Please be sure to use the correct instructions for your duvet.

Caring for your 100% British Wool or 100% British Alpaca Duvet

Wool and alpaca fibres have a natural resistance to dust mites and bacteria, so your wool/alpaca duvet doesn’t need frequent washing. We recommend regular airing and this helps to keep the wool/alpaca nice and fresh. This can be done outside (if the weather is dry), or draped over a clothes airer, near an open window so that air can get right round your duvet.

Should a deeper clean be required, our wool and our alpaca duvets are machine washable - and it helps to think of them as a big woolly jumper! Machine wash in a large capacity machine (so the duvet has plenty of room to move around inside) on a 30 degrees wool cycle, and using a detergent that is specifically created for wool. A gentle spin to remove excess water and then remove immediately from the machine, reshape and thoroughly air dry. Do not tumble dry. We do not recommend dry cleaning as this process uses chemicals. You can find more information on caring for your duvet here.

If you need to store your duvet at any point, it is best to roll it up and place in the cotton bag it arrived in. Make sure it is stored in a dry place, away from humidity and damp. We would recommend re-airing before you use it again.

Caring for your Botanic (100% plant-based) duvet

Your Botanic duvet is made from a 100% plant based fibres containing TENCEL™Lyocell, derived from sustainable wood sources. These fibres have a resistance to dust mites and so your Botanic duvet does not require frequent washing. We do, however, recommend regular airing as this helps to keep your Botanic duvet fresh. This is best done outside if the weather is dry, or inside over an airer near an open window if the weather is damp.

For a deeper clean, your Botanic duvet can be machine washed in a large capacity machine, on a 30 degrees delicates cycle and using a gentle detergent (it is best to avoid 'biological' detergents as these can be harsh). A gentle spin to remove excess water and then remove immediately from the machine, reshape and air dry. Our Botanic duvets can be tumble dried on the lowest setting and we recommend reshaping during this process.  We do not recommend dry cleaning, due to the chemicals used in this process.

For storing, roll up and place in the cotton bag it arrived in, ensuring it is stored in a dry place away from humidity and damp. Re-air before using again.
