Our Planet

  1. Devon Duvets loves the planet on Earth Day - and every day

On the 22nd April, the world stops and pauses for Earth Day.

On this day, more and more of us make a conscious effort to conserve energy, and think about our impact on our beautiful planet.

We can all make a difference, however small it may seem at the time – and at Devon Duvets, sustainability and our impact on the environment is always at the heart of every decision we make throughout the year.

For example, we only ever use 100% certified British wool in our award-winning wool bedding. We buy our wool from British farmers who only shear in the Spring and Summer, when the sheep naturally need to lose their winter fleeces. Our wool is then cleaned in British mills, without the use of bleachor chemicals, and needled into a soft fluffy layer. The wool is then individually hand stitched into 100% natural cotton casings by our expert seamstresses, here in Devon. So when you buy a wool duvet from us, you can be confident you are

  2. Get ready for World Sleep Day

The World Sleep Society (WSS) promotes and celebrates World Sleep Day each year. This year is the 14th annual World Sleep Day and it’s set for 19th March 2021. The aim of World Sleep Day is for sleep professionals to advocate and educate the world about the importance of sleep as part of a healthy lifestyle and the theme of this year’s event is ‘Regular Sleep, Healthy Future’.

  3. Why we love Devon here at Devon Duvets!

We know how lucky we are to be based in Devon! When our founders, Dick and Pauline, left their busy international careers 12 years ago, they decided to settle on Dartmoor because they loved the area and wanted to enjoy all its natural beauty and the outdoor lifestyle.

  4. Our 100% British wool duvets are 100% natural and chemical free

You spend an average of 7-8 hours out of every 24 in bed and so what you sleep under is incredibly important if you want to be sure of a restful night’s sleep.

At Devon Duvets we take sleep very seriously and our seamstresses at our Devon workshops take great care in handcrafting our certified 100% British wool duvets. Wool is such a beautiful natural and sustainable product that we want to keep it as close as possible to the way nature intended.

Wool has many wonderful features, including being naturally breathable and temperature regulating, helping to keep you cool when it’s hot, yet lovely and snuggly when it’s cold. As it is dust mite resistant and also resistant to the build-up of micro bacteria, it is naturally anti-allergy, which means it is the perfect bedding for those suffering from asthma or other allergies. It is also naturally fire retardant.

We only ever buy top quality 100% British wool from British farmers, who have the highest standards of animal

  5. Why Our Recyclable Packaging Is so Much More Than Just Packaging

At Devon Duvets we are committed to making and selling natural products that are responsible and ethical. Products that don’t end up in landfill and will either biodegrade or are recyclable.

This means that we’ve had to work hard on not only ensuring that our products fulfil our criteria but also finding the right sort of packaging to fit the same bill. Our packaging is all recyclable, but it doesn’t have to be discarded; it can also be reused in all sorts of useful ways to help with storage around your home, particularly our inner bags. We’ve all put our heads together to come up with some suggestions and we’re sure that there are lots more that we haven’t thought of – but you will!

  6. How do you turn a tree into a duvet?

It sounds impossible but it isn’t…thanks to a pioneering fibre manufacturing process that’s enabled our expert seamstresses in our Devon workshops to create a natural, 100% sustainable product that’s made from trees.

  8. Cherish the gift of nature

At Devon Duvets, we understand that your visit is driven not only by the desire for a restful night's sleep with our quality duvets but also by a commitment to environmentally responsible choices. Our continuous efforts to reduce environmental impact extend from sourcing materials like wool and cotton to using biodegradable packaging, ensuring that your conscious purchase aligns with sustainable practices for both product and packaging.
